Atreus' quest begins with the events of God of War Ragnarok, which may possibly take him to his father's troubled history.
God of War Ragnarok is more than just a continuation of 2018's God of War; it continues the character's growth and evolution. Atreus is one of the most notable characters to have changed; he is no longer a child but a fully grown young man with responsibilities. With Atreus' best moments coming from God of War Ragnarok, some of his younger habits appear to have faded, but in the sequel, the young god's curiosity about his place in Midgard and the wider world, as well as his heritage, has grown more significant and difficult to ignore.
Atreus has obviously matured considerably since the events of God of War Ragnarok, both intellectually and physically. By his often too-protective father Kratos, he is given additional authority. Being taught by his father how to survive and control his fury, he is also incredibly disciplined in battle. Age and the Norse mythology in God of War Ragnarok have made Atreus much more autonomous, and he now wants to forge his own path. He consequently disagrees with his father, who regards him as both his son and a relic of his cherished wife, Faye. Starting from the beginning and continuing to the very end, Atreus is on a voyage of self-discovery. While he may have good intentions and obtain some information, Sometimes the results are disastrous.
