In Tekken 8, an iconic character is returning.

Kojima revealed a sequel to one of his best games, fans got to witness the gameplay teaser for the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Elden Ring won Game of the Year at this year's The Game Awards. Although the latter was undoubtedly anticipated, Jun Kazama's appearance in the upcoming Tekken 8 game—who was believed to have died 27 years ago—surprised fans. In the forthcoming Tekken game, Jin Kazama's mother will make an appearance.

IGN states that Jun's reappearance will definitely draw some attention because it ultimately validates several fan theories that have developed over the past 27 years, many of which have assumed her to be alive and well. For those who are unfamiliar with the character, before the events of Tekken 3—where she faced Ogre—young Jin Kazama was thought to have died. The question of whether she survived her run-in with the God of Fighting was never formally answered, but the fans now have their answer.

By featuring flashbacks from Jin's early life, notably his memories of his mother and how she possesses the capacity to expel the Devil gene, the trailer provided a hint as to how Jin's redemption story would conclude. In addition to the thrill and adrenaline, however, the nearly one-and-a-half-minute trailer raised more concerns than it did answers, especially regarding Jun. Since when where has she been? We'll have to wait till the game is released to find out, I suppose. Sadly, Bandai Namco has not yet announced an official release date.

The new Tekken 8 teaser, which is a vast improvement over the announcement film, which acted more as demo footage than a trailer, also provides a deeper look at the gameplay fundamentals of the game. The Tekken 8 teaser has shown off some of the combat as well as the new iterations of King, Paul, Lars, Marshall Law, and Jack 8, as well as the previously introduced guest characters.

The use of the recently released Unreal Engine 5 in Tekken 8 was later verified after the game's initial announcement earlier this year. In the game, Jin Kazama will battle Kazuya Mishima and try to put an end to their argument once and for all. Although it is yet unclear how Jun Kazama fits into all of this, the fanbase is enthusiastic about the debut of the new Tekken game.

The fact that the Tekken series dates back to the first PlayStation generation only serves to highlight how good Bandai Namco's game is. It's interesting to note that the brand has survived every gaming development technology available over the past three decades. What really sets the franchise apart, though, is how it was able to survive the technological revolution while still maintaining all of its best qualities. Tekken 8's exact release date is still unknown as of right now, but the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC game is anticipated to arrive sometime in 2023.

Tekken 8 Is Bringing Back Guest Characters?

Gaming guests are all too prevalent these days, and Epic Games' Fortnite has a major hand in popularising the idea. While we don't claim that Epic Games created cameos, re-skins, or guest appearances, we do claim that the company popularised and re-synthesized the idea among gamers. Katsuhiro Harada, the creator of the Tekken video game series, alluded to the idea of including additional cameo characters from other IPs in Tekken 8 in an interview with IGN.

This suggests that there is a very good probability that more classic fighting game characters from Capcom or SNK will make an appearance in Tekken 8. Takada stated that the Tekken gaming community had responded extremely favorably to previous guest appearances, even though he hasn't provided any specific confirmation of any guest appearances.

Tekken 8 will likely have more cameos from other fighting games developed by Capcom and SNK, given how guest characters in Tekken 7 are still recognized as one of the game's best features. Akuma, a famed fighting game character from the Street Fighter series, who is also bringing back some of its iconic characters, debuted in Tekken 7 at the game's premiere. The addition of Geese from Fatal Fury and Negan from The Walking Dead to Tekken 7 was unquestionably a brilliant move.

Recently, Tekken 8 was revealed during the EVO Tekken Tournament Event, along with a depiction of Kazuya Mishima and the phrase "Get Ready." A cinematic clip featuring high-octane combat between the series' recognizable characters, Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, served as the actual reveal during Sony's State of Play event. Putting away the fighting components, the trailer did a great job of demonstrating the technological aspects of the game's development process as well as the level of detail that was included in the game, such as apparent muscular fibers and rainfall.

The production team switched to Unreal Engine 5, which offers extraordinary graphic quality in games; in the case of Tekken 8, you can literally see rain sliding down characters' faces. This is another important breakthrough. Tekken 7 was the series' first Unreal Engine 4-based UE game, while Tekken 8 will be the second version to make use of Epic's Unreal Software. We may all agree that UE5 is wonderful, but the games were previously created by Bandai Namco Studios utilizing an internal software development kit, which wasn't awful.

The fact that the Tekken series dates back to the first PlayStation generation just serves to highlight how good Bandai Namco's IP is. The franchise managed to maintain every aspect that made it outstanding despite having experienced every gaming development technology of the last three decades. If anything, the inclusion of guest characters improved the quality of the Tekken games. Although Tekken 8's release date is still unknown, it's safe to arrive on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2023.
