Mortal Kombat 1: Has Been Officially Announced by NetherRealm Studios.

Mortal Kombat 1 is coming out later this year, which NetherReralm Studios officially announced after it had already been leaked by WB Games.

This morning, WB Games and NetherRealm Studios made the formal announcement that Mortal Kombat 1 will be released later this year. Following the events from the 2019 title, in which (Spoiler Alert) Liu Kang has become a god and reset the timeline to start a new era, we now know that the most recent iteration of the series will take place in the present timeline. MK12 was originally revealed by the publisher early this year. He has brought back some historical figures for this new era, but he has also given them a new route to follow so that they can decide whether to live in peace or engage in combat. And as always, evil will exist when Shang Tsung makes his triumphant comeback.  The contest will be published for PC and all three major consoles on September 19. Below, you'll find the trailer, further details on the release, and a few studio statements.

"NetherRealm's genre-defining Story Mode returns with an immersive cinematic narrative featuring surprising revisions to well-known rivalries and brand-new backstories for a diverse cast of legendary fighters, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and many others. Additionally, Kameo Fighters, a distinctive cast of supporting characters that can aid in battles, will be included in Mortal Kombat 1 to provide players more gameplay options. Mortal Kombat 1 will be accessible for pre-order on all launch platforms as of tomorrow, May 19.

For $69.99 (SRP), Mortal Kombat 1 Standard Edition will be made physically and digitally available on PC, including Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch.
On the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition will be available both physically and digitally for $109.99 (SRP). It will include all Standard Edition content in addition to the Kombat Pack, early access to the game starting on September 14, and 1,250 Dragon Krystals (in-game currency). A Johnny Cage character skin with the likeness of renowned actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme will be available at the launch. The Kombat Pack will also provide players early access to six new playable characters after launch and five new Kameo Fighters after debut.
Mortal Kombat 1 Collector's Edition will be physically sold at select retailers for $249.99 (SRP) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only and will include all Premium Edition content, early access, a 16.5-inch Liu Kang sculpture created by COARSE, an inspired Liu Kang in-game character skin, three exclusive art prints, a steel case, and 1,450 more Dragon Krystals (2,700 total), in addition to the other items listed above.

David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Games, said, "With Mortal Kombat 1, we are introducing a reinvented universe to the renowned franchise, which has enthralled players for more than 30 years and continues to top itself. We believe Mortal Kombat 1 will continue to draw new players while also thrilling our existing fans because the talented team at NetherRealm Studios "continues to push the series forward in bold ways that have consistently expanded the global audience."

"Mortal Kombat 1 marks a new beginning for the franchise, and we couldn't be more excited to share this original storyline and fresh take on classic characters with our fans," said Ed Boon, Chief Creative Officer, NetherRealm Studios, and co-creator of Mortal Kombat. We're also launching our Kameo Fighter system, which adds a distinctive roster of companion characters to the mix. We anticipate showcasing this feature shortly, along with other fresh game features.
